Little advice

Alrighty... After a couple weeks of going at this blues thing, here's a little noodle/jam over the top of a very well made backing track of BB King's The Thrill is Gone. It's redone in B-Minor.

The Thrill is Gone - Blues Jam - Raw solo

*http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2nXQd3q5bM* Use this link

I just threw my Shure SM58 in front of my Hotrod Deluxe. Used the neck pickup (Samarium Cobalt pups) and ran threw my pedal board, using an MXR Wylde Overdrive and a vintage Deluxe Memory Man. Have a DBX Compressor in the effects loop. Added a little bit of reverb (between 1 and 2). I don't use the clean channel of the amp, but instead use the basic Drive channel with the drive almost as low as it can be without cutting the signal. Even at 10, there is barely any distortion, without the overdrive pedal, using this method. I find it adds a bit more clarity to the clean sound and boosts the highs just enough to sound smoother than the clean channel itself. And since i use pedals for my distortion/overdrive, this is working pretty nicely as a setup so far. Then i run the whole setup through my little 4 channel mixer. I think i need to get another XLR cable so i can double layer using my direct box straight off the pedal board in conjunction with the mic'ed sound. I didn't really adjust any levels, save for the overall mic input so it would overmodulate. So the lead might be a touch over the top of the backing track sometimes. But this is more about the tone and technique right now than my mixing skills.

Well, let me know what you think of A) The overall tone of the sound, and B) This beginning approach to what hopefully will become a decent blues ability.

All tips and advice is welcome. Please keep all criticism constructive. Thank you.

A. Overall tone-There feeling is there.

B. A Pentatonic Pleasure.

You have it set up good, Just need some backup and a drum.

Thanks man. And Bb would be cool, but the backing track is done in the key of B-Minor, so my hand was kinda forced on that one. But thanks though man.

Here's the chords:

One of 'em is just a little bar across the top 2, or you can use the top 3 if you want, strings. It's the top notes off the B_Minor bar chord. Just slide it up, slide it back.

And then the other one is the again just part of the E7 bar at the 7th position (i believe). You just play the notes you middle and ring finger are on.

If i get a chance, i can take a picture for you. Or if anyone has a chord chart picture handy, please help out. Thanks.

*If you relisten to the corrected track, you'll hear where i got the idea for those chords from.

All you need now, is to talk BB into singing.

Nice job! To answer some of the questions offered. The song is in Bm. The chords are Bm, Em, Bm, Gmaj7, F#7, Bm. Solos are generally played in the B.B. box at the 10th fret. For me, singing is the hardest part. The intro can be difficult to learn, but overall, is still simple, timing is everything here.
