Anyone here make the trek out to the Chicago area for the Crossroads Festival yesterday? It was absolutely amazing.
Hilights of the day include: Jonny Lang, Derek Trucks, Robert Randolph, Albert Lee, John Mayer, Eric Clapton (of course) and Steve Winwood.
However, my biggest nod goes out to Ryan McGarvey. He's a singer/songwriter out of New Mexico that won the contest to play on the Ernie Ball sponsored stage. He came on right after Robert Randolph's little Q&A demo-type session. My lady and I, along with a small handful of other people, were right up front. By the time they wrapped up their set, there were easily 750-1000 people watching the set. He's got some amazing chops that combine a classic blues style but with a really modern heavy rock style. I'd definitely recommend checking him out.
I almost forgot to include Bill Murray. He hosted the whole event. Extremely funny. At one point he came out dressed as Elvis, and another time as Jimmy Hendrix. He was good.

I'll bet it was an amazing day and thanks for the tip about Ryan McGarvey, I'll have a listen.
I've got all the Crossroads Festivals that have made it to DVD, unfortunately that's as close as I'll ever get. Such is life.
