So what do you suggest?

I been working on getting this forum ready to "launch". As I'm typing this message, there are two members (me included). So if you're a new member and you're reading this, do you have any suggestions on what other boards and categories you'd like to see here? I know the forum is mostly focused on guitars at this point but as it grows and other types of musicians join, we'll probably want to add more boards for them!

So what all do you suggest we add or change?

I think you're good for now. Just sit back and watch for any needs that arise.

Re: So what do you suggest?

Looks like a good start so far..

Perhaps in the future you might consider adding a section regarding live sound reinforcement for members who are already gigging, or even those who haven't yet stepped onto a stage but are planning to someday.
It doesn't really have to get too involved or technically complex, just basic things such as monitor mixes, or whatever the issue may be.

I've seen a few newer (and some even more experienced) players who could have avoided difficulties if only they knew how to approach and communicate their needs/wants to the guy/girl running the board.

Never be afraid to ask a question or make a suggestion even if at first you might think its a silly question..
After all.. you want to sound your best up there, and even though a few sound guys can be a little rude at times.. the good ones (which are the majority) are generally open and responsive to suggestions, as they too want you to sound your best.

Just my 2 cents..

Best of luck to you all!

Re: So what do you suggest?

Thanks Freez99207 for the suggestion. And YES, no one on this forum should be afraid to ask a question no matter how stupid they think it may be.

I'd love to add a live sound section here. I'll probably just wait a bit for traffic and members here to increase. Having too many (empty) boards on a newish forum can scare potential new members away. Lets cross our fingers for more new members and activity so we can start adding more boards. I'd love to expand and have a section for just about everything about music and playing.

Re: So what do you suggest?

someplace for shameless self promotion. Here's my example post:
If anyone is looking for gear/guitars contact me...We don't have everything listed on our site yet, so just because you don't see it doesn't mean we don't have it. Call me to make any reasonable offer, unreasonable offers should at least be amusing. I also have a TON of used gear. Mention my posts in Stratocaster talk and Iwill give you the best deal possible short of getting myself fired

Re: So what do you suggest?

Since you have a stratocaster and telecaster section on this forum, then maybe you can put an "other fender guitars" section as well. Just a thought.

E flat is worse!

Actually a category that's missing is Fenders that aren't Strats or Teles.

I do have a vested interest in that as a Mustang owner--I've been on a Mustang board, but it all seemed to be about Kurt Cobain. I bought my Mustang long before anybody outside of his family & friends had heard the name. That's not to disparge Cobain--just that the forum got a bit tiresome.

Good idea. Just added a board for "other fender guitars". I might take the time tonight to move some topics from General Chat (topics about other fender guitars) to the new board so that it won't be empty for the time being.

I been getting good suggestions from members today via pm's as well. Keep it up guys

Thanks for creating it--Sean2112bd suggested it as well.

I've already created a Mustang thread--let's see how many others are interested--but I'll still talk Strat as well.

I like this site a lot. No infighting or quibbling, no age discrimination, no "Experts" with prejudged ideas that are the law, as they see it.
I was on a Mustang forum, and a few mods would state as bible truth things that I as a mechanic and former pro drag racer, to be so far off base as to be totally untrue, if not impossible.
Here, there are well thought out answers and opinions that make sense.
On 3.8mustang.com for instance, they have an off topic section, that will harass and e-asassinate a person's character. There is too much drug, drunk, and porn links. And most of them do not own Mustangs.
Anyway, one could learn by their stupidity. This is an intelligent forum based on the experience of all ages and backgrounds, without calling someone out for "another epic pwn."
My only suggestion would be Spell Check, so I don't look like a dummy when I mis-spell several words in one post.
