as above ,does your girl understand your passion for music and guitar related purchases ? or does she throw a tantrum when you arrive home with another piece of gear , also does she let you out to play gigs ,jam with your mates ?
luckily for me , i'm blessed , My wife usually always comes to gigs etc and when we are up town she lets me dissapear to denmark st for a nose around the music shops and usally when we meet up i have that face( I've just seen something that is so fantastic i want but not really need ?)
she even helped me buy my super reverb as i need the money quick so i wouldn't miss out, even though i spent a load last year on the vibrolux and i now have 4 amps in the house ( all valve) and getting on for 5 guitars, she's even got used to my other love for american muscle cars , what a woman!
I can do anything I want, whenever I want, buy what I can afford, drink as much as I want, stare at my guitars as much as I want (without another one getting jealous), etc.
It's nice for sure. But good on you for having a good understanding woman. At the end of the day, I am still cuddled up by myself.
You're British, right? How do the women there compare to these stupid Ameriwhores that I seem to always come across?
My girl is getting me new pickups for Christmas. She loves nothing more than to sit there and read or whatever while I play guitar. She is a bit bemused by the fact that I have 4 guitars, but she understands my passion for music (she's an artist). I guess I'm just one of the lucky ones
My girlfriend understands, because she is a musician too. She plays piano, sax, and guitar. This helps a lot. Now shes learning to play the squeeze box. I think it also helps that I also play piano, sax, guitar, and bass also.

sometimes being single works for the best, yeah i'm british but my wife is Japanese , who has been on the japanese garage /surf and rockin' scene before i met her, she used to make band outfits for friends bands back then, also friends with The 5678's from tokyo ( they were in kill bill , i the yakusa party scene just before all hell breaks loose with some swordplay!)
i haven't met too many american women but the one's i have they have been a bit selfish , my old buddy allesandro got hitched and left the uk for america ,he had to give up his band , he even left behind his Jtm 45 ! as she wouldn't allow him to play or even practice at home or be in a band , shame ,he was an italian loon that will be missed !
My wife is awesome. She met me when I was still playing out with one of my bands, and her dad played in a band growing up, so she's pretty used to the guitars being out, and the gear acquisition addiction.
She's been extra awesome lately...since a ton of my gear was stolen, she's been super understanding, and even wants to help me get some new stuff. She even went with me to Garland to check out a new rosewood Eric Johnson strat that I may get if the insurance comes through.
Mine says I can look but not touch. This includes guitars, also.

My wife has always been a great supporter. She knows how much guitars and equipment mean to me, and there is also the fact that they are more than just a hobby, as I have been able to make a living and contribute to supporting a family with my craft. Hey, I like guitars, she likes gold and diamonds, so it all works out for us.
When you got one that buys you gear for X-Mas and your BD, you gotta know she's a keeper!
If not, tell her to kick rocks!
Brandon, I got one word for you....CRUISE!
Having a girlfriend who is understanding is awesome, because mine actually likes to listen to me play. My mom shes some what understanding she just dislikes me playing electric guitar.

I think it helps if you have most of the gear before the relationship starts--so she knows what she's getting into--and knows more gear is on the way.

i roeckon she did , i already had 2 amps , vox ac30 ,laney vc30 and 2 guitars and a vox organ when i met her, only today she said when my mate stu comes round and we go through whats great in the state of gear ( hes a massive collector of up to the minute gadgets ,amps etc ) My wife thinks oh God ? what are they planning to buy now ?
susually it's stu who buys much more than me , I only fancy getting a gretsch anniversary and possibly a good tele , as mostly i've got some great stuff now and some stuff i need to part with namely the '64 selmer zodiac , i'd love to keep it but i don't need any more amps , since i've gone fender !
Yes, my Wife is understanding and supportive of my music. She even bought me a keyboard for our wedding present. I never hide music purchases from her, and always let her know when I am going to get something big. She is also artistic and I support her painting. She gets to go on painting excursions, trips, classes, etc. I'm hoping there will be a real Rock and Roll fantasy camp like there was on the Simpson's and it will be my turn to go Hopefully Eric would be there. She usually works Saturday and that's my time to really crank the Marshall for a few hours.
When my wife and I met I was in a band in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area, so she knows it's a permanent thing. I do have to play quietly when she is home, she has very sensitive hearing.
Being a single musician is awesome, because you can have your things strewn across the room, like I do not.

My wife is very understanding. She understands how to get me to do all the things she wants done. She just offers me another guitar as soon as it's all done. Problem is I never seem to get it all done and the list keeps growing.
my ex hated when i got really into playing. she would come over to my place we would hang for a bit then she would start drawing or something and i would wander over to my guitar turn the amp on real low and just play a bit she would deal for a bit then try and get my attention and at times it could be like in the cold shot video i would be so into what i was playing she could take off her top and stand right in front of me and i swear to god i would not notice some people think I'm nuts but when it comes guitar not even food will pull me away no matter how hungry i am if I'm running through something even 30 seconds in i will finish the song before i go eat. however my ex did understand it she just had a lot of envy for the guitar at times... especially Layla.

my wife has gotten alot better about it... we are just realizing how expensive it is together!
she doesn't get how you get your mind stuck one pedal/amp, and nothing else will do...for instance we planned a special trip to GC this weekend to get the reissue Aqua Puss, but they don't have it in until later in the month! She just doesn't get why I don't get something comparable... i just try to rationalize it, but in the end it is what it is!
