RIP George Fullerton

George Fullerton died in his sleep Saturday night, July 4.

Mr Fullerton was one of the founding fathers of Fender musical instruments and he contributed many ideas to the development of the Stratocaster, Telecaster, Precison bass and Jazz bass.

He recently had his own commemorative model Stratocaster made by the Custom Shop.

RIP

He was the "G" in "G&L" Guitars. Leo Fender was the "L".http://www.amazon.com/Guitars-George...4069225#reader

Leo,George and Forrest!!!
Forrest White (died November 22, 1994) was a key person in the history of the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation. He began working at Fender on May 20, 1954.[1] Leo Fender named a line of student amplifiers and steel guitars after him in 1955. White later became Vice President of the company. He remained with the company for two years after it was purchased by CBS in 1964. He worked at Fender until December 1966, when he was asked by an executive to sign off on the new line of solid state amplifiers. He was also a partner with Leo Fender in the Music Man company after they both left the Fender company.

I have lived in Fullerton my entire life, not sure what year but I believe it was about 1976?
I went to work for Music Man which was basicly run by Forrest, they were just making amps then and I was to be one of the first in the guitar shop but I couldn't hang with slapping cabinets together all day!
I also alwys thought G&L stood for George and Leo but their headstocks now say Guitars by Leo

I play several times a month at a bar that is the same building as Fenders original factory and service center that I visited many times in the 60's

I used to see Leo almost every morning having breakfast at a little cafe at the corner of Fender and Placentia Ave. about the time he was starting G&L

RIP George Fullerton. So glad he was able to come back to the company in the end and give us one more classic guitar/amp combo.
